SWBC Wrapped: Top posts and Star Wars reviews of 2024
Plus: A recap of my Star Wars Insider work and what's next.
WHAT A YEAR, am I right? 2024 has certainly been a rollercoaster, but I get all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about all the stories, reading guides, reviews, and Star Wars news shared on my Space Wizards Book Club this year.
Honestly, thank the Maker for this newsletter — and Substack for providing a free place for writers to share their work, connect with communities, and grow. This newsletter has kept me growing and exercising my skills, resulting in some wonderful opportunities.
I love a data-based recap, so I’m not sure why I didn’t think to do one of these “wrapped” posts for previous years. I’m a perfectionist and a serious self-doubter, so this post soothed my weary soul and made me realize, yes, I did A LOT this year. And you all seemed to love it.

My favorite posts of 2024
I’m writing a book! — It's still surreal to think about getting a book deal this year. Someone remind me to put my books/phone down and keep writing.
The Acolyte tie-in books — I got to work with Disney to be among the first people to reveal these books.
New Reign of the Empire book trilogy — I’m still riding the high of this announcement and seeing the ARC of The Mask of Fear in my Kindle.
10 years of Star Wars Legends — Yes, these are still Star Wars stories that are beloved and continue to be enjoyed by new and older fans alike.
Q&A with author Beth Revis — For her new snarky sci-fi series that absolutely has some Star Wars vibes
Speaking of, I’d love to hear your favorite SWBC posts you’ve read this year — especially if I convinced you to read a book or helped you on your Star Wars reading journey. Share those in the comments!
My Star Wars Insider recap
Writing for Star Wars Insider continues to be a dream come true. I said as much to my editor over at Titan Comics, which publishes the official Star Wars magazine. This year, I wrote two stories for Insider — one published and one soon-to-be-published.
Perhaps the most exciting Star Wars Insider-related thing to happen to me this year was seeing my stories reprinted in two Star Wars books.
My feature on fan fervor for The Phantom Menace was included in the movie’s 25th anniversary collector’s edition. I also discovered that my interviews with authors Zoraida Cordova and Lydia Kang were reprinted inside Tales of Enlightenment by George Mann—short stories from The High Republic phase 2.
What’s my next Star Wars Insider story about? Video games!
Well, video game books, specifically Star Wars books that adapt and expand the worlds of games like Battlefront II, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars Hunters. The story also includes some throwbacks to The Force Unleashed and the blockbuster Old Republic franchise.
I interviewed four Star Wars authors for this piece — Christie Golden, Sam Maggs, Alexander Freed, and Mark Oshiro. They were all absolutely delightful, and I can’t wait for you to read the story in Star Wars Insider issue #230 — out March 25, 2025.
That’s not all — I’m currently working on another story for Star Wars Insider. This one is near and dear to my heart, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it. It also includes interviews with authors and rereading some of my favorite Star Wars books.
