Star Wars books arriving in 2024 — so far
It’s a new year, which means new Star Wars books are on the horizon.
So far, nine Star Wars books have been announced for 2024. That includes five High Republic books and three Essential Legends reprints. And because it’s only (checks watch) Jan. 3, there will likely be more books announced in the coming months.
It’s also a particularly exciting year for Star Wars anniversaries. The Phantom Menace turns 25 in May, and Star Wars Rebels celebrates 10 years since the first episode in August.
No Rebels books have been announced yet (please, Star Wars!), but two prequel-set novels tie in perfectly with The Phantom Menace.
First is The Living Force, set before Episode 1, and features Qui-Gon Jinn challenging the Jedi Council and pushing all 12 of them to go on a road trip. The next is Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss, which sees the formidable Jedi Master try to honor his fallen friend Qui-Gon after the Jedi died in The Phantom Menace.

Reading recap: All the Star Wars books I read in 2023
I read 22 Star Wars books last year. 22! That’s nearly two a month. And that includes all 14 new releases along with a few rereads, several Legends books, and two short story collections.
Nearly half of the Star Wars books I read in 2023 were High Republic novels. Two of them were based on video games, three of them were Thrawn books, and one of them immediately made its way to the top of my list of favorite Star Wars books of all time (Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade).
Last year was also full of fun surprises in Star Wars books. With Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade and Crimson Climb, I underestimated how much I would love them — mainly because Qi’ra and the Inquisitors aren’t among my favorite Star Wars characters.
I also had so much fun with Jedi: Battle Scars and Hunters: Battle for the Arena. I’m far from being a Star Wars gamer, but these books told great stories. It reminds me that I need to finally finish the “game movie” of Jedi: Survivor.
Lastly, what another fantastic year for The High Republic. Every time I finished a High Republic book this year, I thought about how much I wanted to read it again. With upcoming High Republic releases more spread out over the next year, I’m already planning to reread Phase 2 and Phase 3 books via audiobook very soon.
How many Star Wars books did you read in 2023? Where were your favorites? Share them in the comments!
Cannot believe we’re the 25 year anniversary of Phantom Menace.
I’m so pumped for the new Mace book!
