'Thrawn,' 'Jedi: Fallen Order' and more manga adaptations revealed at Star Wars Celebration
The Manga Mania panel at SWC Japan shared more about "Path of the Lightsaber" and a Kickstarter campaign for "A New Hope" manga.
Happy “boatload of Star Wars book news out of Star Wars Celebration” day to all who celebrate. I’m so incredibly excited to share all the reveals from the Manga Mania panel.
First, thanks to Disney Lucasfilm Press for sharing all this news with me early so I could have these posts and photos ready to go as soon as the embargo lifted. If you’re looking for details from the publishing panel, check the Space Wizards Book Club homepage at 2:05 a.m. EST.
Now, to the manga news, including adaptations of Jedi: Fallen Order and Thrawn.

Then, from author and illustrator Man Tsang comes the manga adaptation of Thrawn, based on the 2017 novel by Timothy Zahn. Release date TBD.

The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope manga — Kickstarter
The final big announcement from the Manga Mania panel was for the Star Wars collectors. Dark Horse Comics revealed they will published The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope — The Manga in a two-volume set. The collection spotlights Hisao Tamaki’s original art from the 1997 manga adaptation of the first Star Wars film.
And that’s not all. Through Kickstarter, Dark Horse will offer special hardcover editions.
Collector’s Edition: Two hardcovers with Kickstarter exclusive covers and a new English translation
Masterpiece Edition: Kickstarter exclusive with faithful reproductions of Tamaki’s art in its original size. This one includes two 176-page books and a 104-page auxiliary volume.
The standard retail edition — with Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader on the covers — will be available in shops in 2026. More Kickstarter details are coming soon.

Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber
Announced in February, Path of the Lightsaber had more details unveiled during the manga panel at Star Wars Celebration. The sequel-era story is set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and chiefly follows Nioka, a young tinkerer who idolizes the Jedi and wants to become one like Luke Skywalker. When she finds an old lightsaber while exploring the ruins of a High Republic ship, she must learn the ways of a Jedi — and find a master to train her — to keep the sacred artifact safe from the First Order and dark side users.
