Star Wars books coming soon
With Star Wars Celebration Japan on the horizon and so many new Star Wars books already announced, it’s shaping up to be an exciting spring and summer.
The final High Republic novels are just weeks away, and we have two Acolyte books to look forward to in May and July. There are also two Free Comic Book Day Star Wars titles — Star Wars #1 and Young Jedi Adventures — as well as two more High Republic manga. The next wave of Essential Legends only includes two books (so far), but their covers are absolutely gorgeous.
Then some special editions and books haven’t yet been formally announced. Shoutout to Once Upon a Galaxy: Upcoming SW Literature on Facebook for always being the first to break Star Wars book news. His page is where I saw the news about the Original Trilogy reprints and The Force Awakens tie-in novel.
Besides the lists below, I’m hoping for some juicy Star Wars book reveals at Star Wars Celebration next month.
April 1: The High Republic: Into the Light (last YA book)
April 8: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Premonition
April 22: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance Vol. 4
April 29: Women of the Galaxy: Updated and Expanded
May 3: Free Comic Book Day 2025 — Star Wars #1
May 3: Free Comic Book Day 2025 — All Ages Young Jedi Adventures
May 6: The High Republic: A Valiant Vow (last middle-grade book)
May 6: The Acolyte: Wayseeker
May 13: The High Republic: Tempest Breaker script book
June 3: Essential Legends Collection
Rogue Planet
Shadows of the Empire
June 17: The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi
June 17: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide
June 17: The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic Vol. 2
July 1: The Art of Star Wars: Visions Volume 2
July 29: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown
July 29: The Art of Star Wars Outlaws
Aug. 5: Sanctuary: A Bad Batch Novel
Special editions coming soon
May 6: Inkstone and Goldsboro special editions of The Acolyte: Wayseeker — signed by author Justina Ireland. The Inkstone edition (with Aurebesh stenciled edges) is sold out, but Goldsboro still has copies of its special edition available (hyperspace and Imperial logo edges).
July 29: New printings of the Original Trilogy novels — Not much is known about these new editions other than cover art for A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. These will be trade paperbacks of the original stories from 1976 and 1983.
Sept. 2: Untitled tie-in YA novel by Kwame Mbali for The Force Awakens 10th anniversary — Crossing all my fingers and toes that we’ll get a formal announcement about this at Star Wars Celebration. I’ve been craving more sequel-era content, so I’m really excited to see what this one’s all about. Author Kwame Mbalia is well known for his Tristan Song series, published by Disney Books under Rick Riordan Presents. His most recent release was Captain America: Brave New World: A Hero Looks Like You.
Oct. 14: Revenge of the Sith Deluxe Edition hardcover: An Amazon listing shows this edition will be a $60 hardcover. I’m eagerly awaiting the cover art and any other details that make this edition “deluxe.”
Star Wars book mail
My Star Wars shelves are growing again. In the last week, I’ve got three new books in the mail (and I’m awaiting two more from Disney Books). First are these gorgeous special editions of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freed. The one with the hyperspace edges is from Goldsboro, and the one with the Aurebesh edges is from Inkstone. These two companies have become the gold standard for signed, special editions of Star Wars books.
Then, I was gifted a copy of the gorgeous new edition of Complete Locations from DK Books. The last edition came out in 2016, so there are a lot of updates in this one — detailed content and cross-sections of places in The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, Rogue One, Solo, The Mandalorian, and Andor. I’m so excited to pour over all the details in the birds-eye views of Ferrix and the fathier chase through the streets of Canto Bight.
Want to read Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear with the Space Wizards Book Club? It’s our pick for March and April at my book club on Fable!
Listen to me yap with Now This Is Lit
Meg with Now This Is Lit is one of my closest friends on the internet who I’ve never actually met — someday it will happen! It’s truly so wonderful connecting with people around the country, around the world because of Star Wars and a love of reading.
I’ve been on Meg’s podcast a few times, and it’s always a blast. We go off script (there’s no script) and just gab about anything and everything that comes to mind. Much of it revolves around Star Wars books and being readers and content creators. This newest episode is no different — we literally yapped for over an hour about Star Wars books, reading, and writing. Check out the episode above and follow her on Spotify and here on Substack.
