'The Bad Batch' trailer sees return of beloved 'Clone Wars' and 'Dark Disciple' character
A few book recommendations for "The Bad Batch," including" Dark Disciple."
Did you feel it? There’s been an awakening in the Star Wars universe in the form of a beloved character’s return.
If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the first trailer for The Bad Batch season 3 before scrolling. There are also spoilers for Dark Disciple below.
Did you see her? That’s Asajj Ventress, our favorite badass Dathomirian Night Sister and former Sith apprentice.
Up until today, Ventress was dead, killed by Count Dooku to protect Jedi Quinlan Vos during the Clone Wars. Hers and Vos’s beautifully heartbreaking unlikely ally-ship and eventual love story was chronicled in one of the best Star Wars books of all time — Dark Disciple by Christie Golden.
But the trailer for the final season of The Bad Batch shows Ventress alive and well and wielding a yellow lightsaber. I have so many questions and I cannot wait to have them answered and see Ventress again.
How did Ventress survive? Well, it just goes to show you that no one’s ever truly gone. Especially in Star Wars.
As we eagerly await the arrival of The Bad Batch season 3 (February 21) and Ventress’s return, check out these Star Wars books.
Dark Disciple by Christie Golden: In a bold but desperate move, the Jedi dispatch Quinlan Vos to team up with Asajj Ventress for help in assassinating Count Dooku. Enemies/unlikely allies to lovers ensue. I sobbed both times reading this book.
Brotherhood by Mike Chen: At the outset of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and new Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker meet the mysterious and sassy Asajj Ventress, at the time a dark side apprentice to Count Dooku.
Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade by Delilah S. Dawson: Another dark Clone Wars-set novel, Rise of the Red Blade’s main character Iskat Akaris is another morally gray female character with Force sensitivity who chooses herself over strict Jedi tenets.
Republic Commando series: We’re all so excited to see Ventress again, but The Bad Batch’s main characters are still clone troopers navigating the galaxy post-Order 66. The popular Legends series of Republic Commando novels by Karen Traviss follows such clone troopers during the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire.
What did you think about The Bad Batch season 3 trailer and Asajj Ventress’s return? Got any other book recs for The Bad Batch? Let me know in the comments!
I was so glad to read that they're working from and with Dark Disciple. It such a good story, such a good book, and I can't wait to see what they're doing with Ventress, though can't really think how she'd come back from the end of the novel... I've seen some wonder if it's a flashback?
VENTRESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Just watched the trailer! So excited!
