SWBC: Star Wars books (probably) coming soon
Plus: My blurb for "The Psychgeist of The Mandalorian."
(Unannounced) Star Wars books coming soon
The other day, I was casually browsing the pages of Star Wars books on Barnes & Noble, adding to my wishlist all the Essential Legends releases I’m missing. I filtered the results from newest to oldest, and I discovered something — well, many somethings.
There are preorder listings for some really exciting new Star Wars books that haven’t even been announced yet. That includes six Essential Legends reprints, a new paperback box set for the Queen’s series, and several previously published Star Wars books getting fresh paperback editions.
Here’s what I found.
Note: Release dates are subject to change, especially since many of these have not yet been officially announced.
New Essential Legends Collection paperbacks:
Solo Command (X-Wing) by Aaron Allston (Nov. 5)
The Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley (Nov. 5)
The Force Unleashed by Sean Williams (Nov. 5)
Iron Fist (X-Wing) paperback and a new audiobook by Aaron Allston (June 4)
The Adventures of Lando Calrissian by L. Neil Smith (June 4)
501st: An Imperial Commando Novel by Karen Traviss (June 4)
New paperback editions:
The following novels are finally — finally — getting fresh paperback editions that are much more reader-friendly than their mass market editions.
Dark Disciple by Christie Golden (June 18)
Rogue One by Alexander Freed (June 18)
A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller (June 18)
Catalyst by James Luceno (June 18)
And more:
Star Wars Encyclopedia: The new hefty reference book from DK features more than 2,200 entries, including 1,200 characters, more than 100 creatures, and over 275 entries on both locations and vehicles. Expected release date is Sept. 17.
Star Wars: Queen’s Series paperback box set: This would include Queen’s Shadow, Queen’s Peril, and Queen’s Hope. Crossing my fingers for new art. Expected release date is Sept. 10.
The High Republic: The Edge of Balance Vol. 3: I’m always down for more Star Wars manga, and The High Republic volumes have been a hit. Expected release date is Aug. 13.

The Psychgeist of Pop Culture: The Mandalorian
The Space Wizards Book Club has its first book blurb!
Featured on the book and the series website, the blurb describes The Psychgiest of Pop Culture: The Mandalorian as “an enlightening and enjoyable exploration of beloved Star Wars characters.”
The collection of scholarly work is also “education and accessible, applying scientific theories to analyses like Din Djarin’s evolving emotional attachments, his parenting style compared to Anakin Skywalker, and the cultural heritage of Boba Fett’s armor.”
I had so much fun reading this book. Don’t be detered by its analytical and scholarly nature; it’s one of those books where you won’t realize you’re learning something while you read.
Books like these are also close to my heart, as one of my bigget passions is apply real-world history and analytical processes to fictional stories.
The Psychgeist of Pop Culture: The Mandalorian, edited by Jessica E. Tompkins (of the Boba Fett Fan Club fame!) is available now in paperback and digital formats.
My full review of the book is coming soon.
