Gift ideas for Star Wars book lovers
Looking for the perfect gift to give the Star Wars book fan in your life? Look no further than the Space Wizards Book Club’s holiday gift guide.
While the old standby gift for book nerds is, well, more books, your giftee may already have all the newest releases. My gift guide does include some books — reference books, art books, and special editions — but it also includes bookish accessories like bookmarks and annotation kits as well as cute stuff to decorate their shelves and clothing to show off their love of The High Republic.
And, of course, I hype up a few small businesses that are near and dear to my heart — from fresh and funny stickers for your emotional support water bottle to t-shirts themed after the latest Star Wars release, Convergence.
The list is packed, so here are a few highlights (ahem, that are on my own wish list).
Lightsaber bookmarks and annotation kits: I already have two lightsaber bookmarks, but I love all of the styles this shop has. And I’ve been loving the cute annotation kits bookish businesses have created for those like me who like to tab and highlight important quotes and passages while they read.
Star Wars logo light: In case anyone is confused about what your giftee’s favorite thing is, give them this Star Wars logo light. It’s a must-have for book readers and collectors.
Special edition books: Any Star Wars book nerd would love collectible editions like The Bounty Hunter Wars from Barnes & Noble or any exclusive edition from Goldsboro.
Small biz stickers and more: My life will not be complete until I own a Thylfire Squadron tee, an Antilles’ Flight School shirt, and an Axel “Chaos” Greylark sticker and pin — all from Yellow House Family Co.
Incoming Star Wars Jedi news
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars cover reveal
Last week, StarWars.com shared the cover reveal for Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs, the official tie-in novel set between Fallen Order and the upcoming Survivor.
The cover art is by Anthrox Studio and features a scarred, lightsaber-wielding Cal Kestis front and center along with Cere Junda, Greez, Merrin, and the Fifth Brother Inquisitor looming over them all.
StarWars.com also shared the official inside jacket copy, teasing what to expect from the book:
“Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More importantly, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire, the Mantis crew grows more daring.
On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch — pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire’s most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.
Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?”
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars arrives on March 7, 2023.
Jedi: Survivor at The Game Awards and possible release date
Speaking of Jedi: Survivor, this week’s Game Awards will have a first look at gameplay from the highly-anticipated sequel to Fallen Order.
While the release date of Survivor has not been officially revealed, according to a listing on Steam, the new game will arrive on March 16, 2023. It’s likely the date will be revealed by official accounts during the Game Awards.
The Game Awards stream live on Dec. 8.
How to catch up on the world of Star Wars Jedi
Do you love all things Star Wars but are woefully behind on the video game stories because you’re terrible at gaming? Well, same, but I have some solutions.
Watch someone else play Jedi: Fallen Order: Twitch exists and is so successful for a reason, but you could also watch your partner, spouse, or friend play.
Watch cut scenes, walkthroughs, and “video game movies”: YouTube is full of these compilations that turn the game into an hours-long movie. I’m currently watching this one from Gamer’s Little Playground.
The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order: This beautiful hardcover reference book is perfect to dig through while playing or watching the cut scenes. It’s full of character studies, locale breakdowns, and concept art as well as creator commentary on how Jedi: Fallen Order came to be.
If you want to do all of this plus take a stab at actually playing, you can grab Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
So excited for the new video game and book! Thanks for sharing
