SWBC: Books to read before 'Tales of the Jedi'; Star Wars news from D23 Expo
Plus: Spooky Legends recommendations and Goldsboro's pretty special edition of 'The High Republic: Convergence.'
Book recommendations for Tales of the Jedi
That high-pitched sound you heard when the Tales of the Jedi trailer dropped was the collective gasping of Star Wars book fans getting so hyped for the possibility of seeing some incredible stories transition from page to screen.
Now, Tales of the Jedi is very likely not a direct adaptation of stories from these books. But the trailer suggests the six animated shorts will focus on the similar journeys and fates of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku — their early life before and during their Jedi training and what led them to leave the Order.
Both characters, in different ways, became disillusioned with the Jedi Order and its strict adherence to outdated dogma. They were also both ostracized by fellow Jedi, the only family they’d really ever know. But while one took up with the dark side and became a Sith apprentice, the other hid her abilities and all but disappeared.
The Tales of the Jedi shorts feature younger Dooku and his Padawan Qui-Gon Jinn, Ahsoka, her master Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other Jedi and key figures during the events of the prequels and the Clone Wars. So, here are some book recommendations to get you in the spirit:
Dooku: Jedi Lost by Cavan Scott
Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray
Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston

Ahsoka finds its Ezra Bridger
The rest of the cast of Ahsoka is finally taking shape — and each casting announcement gets us closer to the actual plot of the series arriving next year. Over the weekend, Eman Esfandi was announced as the live-action Ezra Bridger.
With Rosario Dawson leading the show as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, and Esfandi as Ezra, the show is shaping up to be a continuation of Rebels. Now, we just need a live-action Thrawn casting.
