SWBC: Star Wars books I'm thankful for

Star Wars books I’m thankful for
I’m thankful for all Star Wars books, honestly. But there are quite a few that mean a lot to me, came to me at the perfect time, and still resonate with me long after reading.
Clone Wars stories
I’m a prequel kid, so I have the fondest memories of seeing The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith when they first came out over 20 years ago. They’re my comfort movies — and I’m typing this as I watch The Phantom Menace.
So, it’s no surprise that I feel just as nostalgia and comfort with books set during the Clone Wars and prequel era. No matter how many times I watch or read Revenge of the Sith or binge the last couple of seasons of The Clone Wars, I find something new to love. Even with such a tragic ending, there’s so much hope to be found in these stories.
My favorites can be read in order for a truly incredible Star Wars reading experience — Brotherhood, Dark Disciple, Revenge of the Sith, and Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade.
The High Republic
Though I write words for a living, it’s hard to convey how much The High Republic means to me.
The era and its books are honestly why I have the platforms and opportunities I have now. Light of the Jedi and Into the Dark came to me (and published) at the very beginning of my freelance career. They helped get me my first gigs and first professional book reviews.
Now, nearly three years later, I’ve reviewed every single new High Republic book that’s come out since, launched this newsletter, grew my Instagram and TikTok platforms exponentially, and wrote two High Republic author interviews for Star Wars Insider.
The High Republic embodies all the best traits of Star Wars — hope, passion, perseverance, and love.
The Essential Legends Collection
Though I was (and still am) a voracious reader as a kid, I did not grow up reading the Expanded Universe books. But as an adult, I’m finally discovering all the amazing, genre-defining stories thanks to the Essential Legends Collection.
The collection is comprised of reprinted trade paperbacks with new cover art of nearly three dozen Legends books. Star Wars has been relaunching these books for a couple of years now, and there’s no end in sight — because, well, there are literally hundreds of Legends books.
I’m a completionist as a reader and a Star Wars book collector, so I have almost all of the Essential Legends Collection releases so far. I think I’m just missing The Courtship of Princess Leia, Fatal Alliance, Annihilation, True Colors, and Triple Zero.
Oh, and there are three more Essential Legends reprints coming in February — Knight Errant, Wraith Squadron, and Order 66.
My favorite Legends books so far are Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, the Rogue Squadron series, and, of course, Heir to the Empire.

Congrats on 500 subscribers, and all you've accomplished since The High Republic launched! I'm very thankful for the Aftermath Trilogy for getting me into modern novels, and for the few Legends Boba Fett books I had as a kid for getting me to read SW. Lastly I'll say FACPOV ESB, as that was a lifesaver for collecting author signatures at Celebration!
Forever thankful for the Legends books
