Quotes from Star Wars books that live rent-free in my head
Tom, a senior editor over at Del Rey/Random House Worlds, posted this question on Twitter: What is a Star Wars book quote that lives rent-free in your head? Cue the opening of the floodgates of fans sharing their favorite quotes from Star Wars books — from the heartbreaking to the exhilarating.
So, here are some of my favorite quotes from Star Wars books — the ones that really do live rent-free in my head.
Dark Disciple
“You must let me go, my love,” Ventress said, her voice so gentle, so tender, and she smiled lovingly. “It’s the Jedi way.”
The Rising Storm
“Elzar Mann was riding a dragon into the middle of a dogfight. Because who else would it be?”
Revenge of the Sith
“The dark is generous and it is patient and it always wins – but in the heart of its strength lies its weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back. Love is more than a candle. Love can ignite the stars.”
The Princess and the Scoundrel
“There was no one in the entire galaxy but Leia and Han. Her eyes met his, and her smile was brighter than any star. And it was just for him.”
Master & Apprentice
“It matters which side we choose. Even if there will never be more light than darkness. Even if there can be no more joy in the galaxy than there is pain. For every action we undertake, for every word we speak, for every life we touch—it matters. I don’t turn toward the light because it means someday I’ll ‘win’ some sort of cosmic game. I turn toward it because it is the light.”
The Last Command
“But,” he whispered, “it was so artistically done.”
“The smile faded. The glow in his eyes did likewise … and Thrawn, the last Grand Admiral, was gone.”

Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars has arrived
The moment Jedi: Fallen Order fans have been waiting for is almost here — the release of Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs. This week, Del Rey/Random House Worlds began sending out digital ARCs (advanced reader copies) of the novel to reviewers like me.
The tie-in novel follows Cal Kestis and the Stinger Mantis crew in their new lives as a ragtag found family. The book is set about a decade before the events of A New Hope and is expected to lead into the upcoming game Jedi: Survivor — set in 9 BBY.
Publisher’s summary for Jedi: Battle Scars:
“Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More important, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire the Mantis crew grows more daring.
On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch—pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire’s most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.
Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?”
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars arrives on March 7. Jedi: Survivor will be available on March 17.

The Nerf Herder Co. sample boxes coming soon
ICYMI: I’m now a rep for The Nerf Herder Co., a small business creating and selling fandom-inspired scent products — from Star Wars candles and wax melts to scented sprays themed after characters from the Sarah J. Maas universe of books.
And starting Friday, Jan. 27, The Nerf Herder Co. will have sample boxes up for grabs. These sample boxes are perfect for testing out the scents before you pick a few favorites for a whole candle or wax melt pack.
The sample boxes I got this week include:
Duel of the Fates: Qui-Gon Jinn, Young Obi-Wan, and Darth Maul (dark side cologne, basically)
Journey of the Jedi: The Jedi Archives (smells like a space library), The Jedi Steps, Jedi Meditation, and The Strongest Have Hearts of Kyber
Anidala: Padme Naberrie Amidala (exactly how you’d expect Naboo wildflowers to smell), Japor Snippet, Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight, Across the Stars, and The Wedding.
With all of these great scents, it’s still really hard to pick favorites. Though I am leaning toward Darth Maul, The Jedi Archives, and Padme Naberrie Amidala.
Sample boxes will go live at 5 p.m. EST on Jan. 27. Prices per box are below, plus shipping and tax.
3 sample box: $11
4 sample box: $14
5 sample box: $17
6 sample box: $20
