Star Wars news: 'The Acolyte' comic will connect the show to High Republic books
The Acolyte: Kelnacca #1 by Cavan Scott arrives on Sept. 4 from Marvel.
Wake up, babes, we finally got our first The Acolyte x The High Republic tie-in project.
On Friday, Gizmodo got the exclusive reveal of Star Wars: The Acolyte: Kelnacca — a new one-shot comic written by Cavan Scott with art by Marika Cresta. The comic stars Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi who by the time of The Acolyte lives a solitary life.
Scott, one of the original High Republic writers, said the comic will help bridge the gap between The Acolyte and The High Republic publishing initiative.
“Kelnacca is the perfect character to bridge the gap between the time of Leslye Headland’s spectacular series to the age of Starlight Beacon, the threat of Marchion Ro, and the marauding Nihil,” Scott said in the Gizmodo interview.
He said the comic will also learn more about Kelnacca’s mysterious tattoos “the struggle of a Padawan and a master who is stoic, wise, and ultimately, a true practitioner of Light and Life.”
Wookiees have long lives, and while we don’t know how old Kelnacca is in The Acolyte, he likely knew, trained with, and learned under many of the famous High Republic Jedi we know and love.
As this is a one-shot comic, more issues spotlighting characters from The Acolyte are likely. I will sit here and eagerly await a Vernestra Rwoh comic.
The Acolyte: Kelnacca #1 arrives on Sept. 4 from Marvel. Check out Gizmodo for covers done by Phil Noto, Björn Barends, and Takashi Okazaki.
