Star Wars book news: 'Tempest Breaker' audio drama starring Lourna Dee arrives in December
Our favorite female baddie reluctantly teams up with the Jedi in this full cast sequel to "Tempest Runner."
Breaking Star Wars book news — there’s a new High Republic audio drama coming later this year from Luminous architect Cavan Scott.
Tempest Breaker — a sequel to Scott’s Tempest Runner — stars Lourna Dee, a violent and mercurial villain who’s been one of the banes of the High Republic Jedi’s existence.
However, Dee’s relationship with the Nihil and Eye of the Storm Marchion Ro has soured over the years. In Tempest Breaker, Dee and Jedi become reluctant partners.
In an interview with StarWars.com, Scott teased what we can expect from this new story.
“Those who've been following the Marvel Star Wars: The High Republic comic will have seen Lourna Dee throwing her lot in with the Jedi, specifically the recently elevated Jedi Master Keeve Trennis. At first the alliance was forced upon her, the Jedi strong-arming Lourna into being their guide as they plunged into the Nihil Occlusion Zone. But over time, we've seen a growing — and grudging — respect forming between Lourna and her Jedi... captors? No, that's not right. Neither is jailers. Piece by piece they are slowly becoming a team. The question is how long will Lourna allow that alliance to last. Until she escapes? Or until she gets what she really wants — a chance to face her former associate Marchion Ro. This audio drama is that story.
The book’s cover also features Jedi Avar Kriss and Keeve Trennis, who both have a complicated relationship and history with Dee. Scott promises “plenty of biting banter.”
The new audio drama features a full cast just like previous Star Wars audio dramas, including Scott’s Tempest Runner and Dooku: Jedi Lost.
The High Republic: Tempest Breaker will be published on December 3, 2024, wherever you listen to audiobooks. The print and ebook script book is expected to arrive in spring 2025.
